This time it was a “modified theme” in the display properties that I couldn’t get rid of so I had to select safe mode and kill it manually. After restoring, I noticed that "Fast Writes" were disabled in my previous configuration. Do I have the most recent drivers for the Intel/AMD Chipset. Richie R.
I took mine right back to the driver on the CD, which is ancient, but everything works fine, with no more BSODs. basically the ram was shorting out creating wierd stuff to happen then gave up completely which wouldn't allow a boot bit slower now i'm on half my ram but happy the Then, goto device manager, select show hidden devices from the view menu and finally uninstall all previous instances of pci bridge and graphic card drivers 5. Note: For example: Asus p4g8x- were shipped older drivers! I found that having a VIA chipset with an ATI card has issues with the AGP being default, so I switched it to PCI to PCI bridge. Something with the ATI code doesnt like it when it is installed on an XP system which is not pristine and virgin. Windows Update E.g.

As you may understand I have the same problem with a brand new ATI 4650 with this ati2dvag "Display Driver stopped responding" problem. Did a full uninstall of latest ATI version with no CCC and reinstalled with CCC included. The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ati2dvag If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. Clearly there is something broken in the driver somewhere.
My solution was to turn the card's clockin down[underclock it] Then go in troubleshooting in "display adapters" menu from the desktop and turn off the Direct draw… yes..
